( ACTION. ) not long after his arrival here, few hours before the event
On his own.. in an apartment.
Since when did he live in a place so empty?
Gintoki wondered this as he waited for the light to change at a crossing at Level 2 of Lunatia. He might as well investigate the place while he can. He knew that both Kagura & Shinpachi, if they were here, they were grown now and could fend for themselves even more now, but even so.. he felt it was somehow his responsibility to protect them even if they were older. Even if things weren't the same. Even if this wasn't Edo.
Yeah. They'll be alright.
Gintoki's gaze reaches upward to glaze over a few random buildings.
Back home or right here. Where ever they are now. Their spirits are too strong to be severed.
He doesn't even realize that it's time for him to cross. Maybe he needs someone's assistance? ]
no subject
Hey, Mister. You need help crossing? [ The white hair makes him assume this man is .... reasonably old. When he does get a good look at Gintoki's face, he's younger than he first thought, but since he's already here it's not like he can take his offer back. ]
You can hold onto my arm if you want. [ He'll offer an arm. ]
no subject
Oi, I ain't anything like Y*baba, watch your m—
[ His eyes travel over and then up as this person is taller than him, and when he meets Josuke's face, he can only stare. First Jolyne, then Mista, and now.. god, when will it end. Will he meet all of these characters at this rate? He kind of hopes so. Secretly.
He doesn't answer Josuke and neither does he finish his sentence.
Slowly, though, he does take the teen's arm without realizing it. ]
no subject
[ And yet, Gintoki is taking his arm, so now he doesn't really know what's going on. Oh well. There are a lot of weird people in Lunatia and this questionable older person is probably one of them. ]
Alright, let's get across. [ With Gintoki gripping onto him, he starts walking at a considerate pace across the road. ]
no subject
Ah, thanks.. I guess it's just your nature to help anyone cross the street.. regardless of age. You know, help the old and the young!
[ That should do it! Wow, I hadn't expected his hair to be this big in person either.. ]
no subject
Yeah. You're right, that's totally how I am. [ This guy definitely knows I mistook him for a geezer but is too nice to call me out on it. He can respect you for that, Gintoki. They're both kind of sparing each other from an awkward social situation and just rolling with what's going on. ]
Name's Josuke, by the way. Don't think I've seen you around before.
no subject
Of course that's how you are! Extremely nice! Ever since someone else showed you kindness.
[ DON'T SCREW THIS MEETING UP, GIN-SAN!! Anyway, he cuts himself short of that sentence. ]
Sakata Gintoki.
[ there that is more like it.. ]
Tch. I cannot believe this place has the absolute nerve to bring a person like you here.
[ backpedals.. ]
Someone like you who is already so generous.
[ Honestly? He's kind of mad about this. He doesn't want to see the characters he's read of and been captivated by turn into furries. It's horrible. ]
no subject
Well, the moons kidnap whoever they want. We don't really have a say in that, unfortunately. You're here too, after all.
[ At this point they're across the street, but Josuke doesn't really have anything else to do, so he continues to linger around. ] Since you're probably new around these parts, you know about the, uh, moons already? [ He hopes so. He doesn't want to have to give someone the 'you might become a furry and some people get horny' spiel. ]
no subject
[ Gintoki understands he deserves some stupid fate like this. It's just the gorilla mangaka's ways. Josuke, though..? No way. Too wholesome. Too pure. ]
You say it's the moon's way, but I don't think so.
It ain't random. Can't be. I think it's just a bunch of losers who miss sucking on their mama's hairy teats, make a club for a bunch of losers who also miss sucking on their mama's hairy teats, go and kidnap people, bring'em here and cover it up and make it look like it's a coincidence. This planet needs energy? Go on the internet and buy some, morons. I didn't sign up for this.
[ So they have crossed the street and it takes Gintoki a moment to remember to let Josuke's arm go, but he does, stuffing his arm in his yukata and beginning to walk. Josuke's trying to be helpful, but apart of him isn't ready to talk about some of this stuff with him.
And yet, he proceeds. ]
Tch. I expected other planets to be a lot different.
[ A brief glimpse of what Gintoki expected and is thinking of. ]
I get it, I get it. It's just kemonomimi trope like a bunch of rotten doujinshi. I'd like to see them try and do something like that with me.
[ Just wait until next Cordis, Gin. ]
no subject
Pfft. Dude, I kinda get what you mean, but it's pretty funny when you put it like that. [ This guy sounds like a riot so far, so Josuke starts tagging along with him, walking with him to wherever he's going, really. It's not like he has anywhere else to be right now. ]
Kemonomimi though ... That's a manga thing, isn't it? I don't really read that stuff. [ Besides his love for video games, Josuke is a disgusting normie who likes to his time hanging out and socialising. He's assuming Gintoki probably means the animal parts. ] You sound like you really hate it, huh? [ It's honestly not the worst part about this place, in his opinion. ]
no subject
Maybe my long term goal is to find these assholes and send everyone home but..
[ A click of his tongue. ]
These people do need help, cover up or not.
[ As much of complaining as he does, Gintoki does recognize the Prismals are short on energy, and since an issue of his life closed recently (literally) he's willing to hang around and accept it. For now. ]
Oh, uh.. you don't? Well, you know, I don't either. Just sometimes. When there's nothing else to do. Ha. Haha.
no subject
[ Yeah, he could totally tell that Gintoki was trying to hide the fact that he enjoys reading manga. It's not for Josuke, but he doesn't judge. ]
Yeah, it's kinda a sticky situation all around, and forcing them to send everyone home -- that ain't gonna work either, 'cause some people like being here. [ Some people have no choice but to be here. He knows people who have died back in their homeworlds, or have very shitty homes to return to. ] But, 'yknow, if you've got unfinished business back home ... you don't have to worry about it.
[ Since he's been told that people can simply return to the times they were taken from. ]
1/2
[ WHY IS HE.. TALKING ABOUT READING JUMP.. LIKE HE'S TRYING TO STOP DRINKING OR SOMETHING..
He should start a JUMP readers anonymous. ]
no subject
That's the problem.
Everything is finished back home.
[ HIS MANGA ENDED. HIS FUTURE IS LOOKING BLEAK. Now he's really going to be a useless old man living off into the nonexistent pages of his life. ]
Otherwise I'd be in a bigger hurry to get back home regardless of what you say.
My case isn't for everyone, so I guess it's good that things stay the same for everyone back in their home worlds.
[ Man. If he had been brought here a little bit earlier? Phew. He would have been furious. That would have interrupted everything he was doing in the Silver Soul Arc, the longest and final arc. ]
no subject
Uhh, everything's finished? Sounds like you just got outta some heavy shit. [ A big fight, maybe? He's curious to know, but he won't press on unless Gintoki actually wants to talk about it. ]
no subject
It was pretty heavy. Chapter upon chapter jam packed into the most extensive arc. Amidst it all, he got to see so many faces and experience so many souls working together. Things were wrapped up. Stories were finished.
Though, something about his ending wouldn't have been how he would have wanted it. Perhaps it was a bit selfish, but there were certain things that should have never come to an end the way that they did. ]
—Yeah.
Some heavy shit.
[ Josuke isn't wrong. Just maybe he doesn't understand it was a 'fate-of-the-world' kind of fight. ]
no subject
Well ... Did everything work out? How you wanted it to, I mean ... [ Not that he knows what that 'heavy shit' really entails. ]
no subject
The best way it possibly could given the circumstances.
[ Gintoki clicks his tongue and he forces a smile as he looks over at Josuke. ]
Ah, but the ending of something is usually the beginning of something else, isn't it? What is more eternal are the memories a person has left etched into the world. Thinking of it that way, maybe it isn't so bad after all.
[ oh... soft. ]
